Accessibility Statement for Artie J. Pascua

This is an accessibility statement from Artie J. Pascua.

Measures to support accessibility

I take the following measures to ensure accessibility:

  • Include accessibility as part of our mission statement.

  • Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.

  • Integrate accessibility into our procurement practices.

  • Appoint an accessibility officer and/or ombudsperson.

  • Assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Artie J. Pascua is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Limitations and Alternatives:

Limitation on Format: The only limitation is that the format is set for a website like this, so there are limits to what can be changed for better user experience.

Additional Information and Customization

Some of the added ways for a better user friendly experience:

  • Colours: using minimal and darker colours, as to not overwhelm the user. As well as lowering the intensity of the white text on black background.

  • Text: Use of legible fonts (mostly sans serif) for people who might have reading difficulties on any level and by having the text size being a little larger.

  • Navigational tools: On PC, there is the bar at the top that allows the user to go from one page to another easily. For phones, there is the navigation tab that organizes the different pages in a very simple and easy to read format.

Some later on additions:

  • The home page images will link to the portfolio piece by interacting with it, so that the user will not have to look through the portfolio page.

About the Artist, A.Jinkx

Q & A / 17 April 2025
Hello I am Artie aka A.Jinkx, a Filipino artist based in Canada.

I am an aspiring character design artist, with a strong foundation in character concepts and rendering.

Specializing in designing visually engaging worlds filled with personality and charm, turning ideas into vivid illustrations.

My goal in every piece is to bring characters’ stories to life, making it so that anyone can be infatuated and intrigued by the worlds I have created.

My Illustration Process

General / 13 March 2025

How I begin:

Just to preface, this is NOT a tutorial, but MY step by step process.

Thumbnailing

I usually start off with a couple quick thumbnail sketches, usually creating three at least before deciding on the final composition.

I try to usually keep my lines loose during this process.

Clean-up Lines

From there I clean-up the lines just enough that I can already start placing down colours.

I don't always add lineart to my more illustrative pieces. This is just a personal preference and is mostly for giving myself less work to do.

I only try to have clean lines for the face and hair. I don't try to be overly detailed with my clean up lines anywhere else, unless I really need to.

Flat Colours and Shading

When it comes down to laying out flat colours, I usually find references from photographs of places and environments, since they usually have the most cohesive pallets.

But for this piece, they have been characters I've been working on for years, so I have already created pallets for them. It was mostly the lighting that I needed to find references for.

As for shading, I start with blocking in the lights and shadows with different layer modes, not really thinking about refining them until rendering.

I just use the multiply for shadow and add glow or colour dodge for highlights. Playing around with the opacity until I am satisfied with where I can start rendering. This is just a place holder for where lighting goes in the piece.

I just want to get the feel for where the shadows need to be emphasized and what the end product could be.

Rendering

This is probably the most time consuming part of my process, where everything gets refined and when I want to cry.

I start with the face and expand outwards, but still hopping from one area to another when rending because I cannot focus on one spot.

I always try to turn on and off the lighting layers, because they are just place holders for where the lights and shadows goes.

The scary lighting layer that needs to be blended in

Finalizing the Piece

From "that's doesn't look right to looks good"

I just use more layer modes, play around with the contrast, and check for any inconsistences in the piece. Just trying to put the whole piece together. Blending, refining, cropping and finalizing until I am satisfied with the piece.
